Stuffing a Wii-mote down a stuffed doll to interact with a game? HELL YEAH! I want this game now. Call it, me kiddie I don't care. I still play with my stuffed dolls (shuddup) so this is second nature to me. I have a vivid imagination mmkay?

No idea when Wiiwaa out but rest assured I will be one of 3 grown ups in line on launch day.

Bave Circus

I'm not gonna give much away because you HAVE to watch this amazing short called Bave Circus. On a rainy afternoon, a child plays with his snails and falls along with them into a dreamy circus.

Wish I were a kid again.

EPIC Mickey

epicmickey.jpg

There is all this buzz about the next Mickey video game called EPIC Mickey but what gives? Since when did Mickey send game nerds salivating for the next installment? Then it hit me. Digging thru my memories I vaguely remember a Mickey video game on the Sega Genesis. I even remember it being fun and recall a bunch of my macho friends coming over after school for a rousing game thru Disney's vast story lines and landscapes.

This game promises to take all that, multiply it by a factor of 10 and basically leave you in a pile of drool and piss from not moving for days. WARNING: For once your hand will cramp up from something other than touching yourself. Read the official description below. I mean if that don't make you cream then something's wrong with you. I suggest you go get checked. Originally slated as a Wii exclusive, the rumormill is churning with multi-platform suggestions.

oswald-the-rabbit-thumb-150x179.jpgEpic Mickey is set in a world where the old and forgotten Disney creations are cast into a dark wold of "broken machines and bitter personalities". This world is under the control of Oswald the Rabbit (first appearance 1927), Walt Disney's first character.

Oswald hates Mickey because of his success and is looking to get revenge for years of unpopularity. So he sends his minion, The Phantom Blot (first appearance 1939), to destroy Mickey and the cartoon world (seeing the world in turmoil would make me happy if I was a forgotten cartoon too).

The Phantom Blot uses a sticky black ink "that makes colors run and fade" to pollute the beautiful world. And as you're probably guessing, it's Mickey's job to stop Oswald and return the world to it's normal, vibrant times!

"MOEA" - that's my new word for 'MASSIVELY OVERLY EXCITED ABOUT'. Please feel free to use it. I Wish I could have gone to the Tokyo Game Show this year but alas, I had other priorities. The latest trailer by developers Level-5 show an incredibly immersive story thanks to Studio Ghibli's (Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Sprited Away, Howl's Moving Castle) artistic prowess.

2010 seems a ways off but I know 2009 is coming to a close so the wait isn't that bad. This game has EPIC written all over it. News on the street is the game follows classic RPG rules which is fine by me. I want the narrative, not the hyped-up sudo-RPG tactics.

It still boggles my mind the game is for the Nintendo DS. Years ago the platform was called a fun time waster but there are so many epic games on it now, it's easy to say those naysayers were WRONG.

The Fall

It's rare I review movies because I'm usually too exhausted to sit down and write after a 2 hour ordeal and they are all 2 hours now. What's up with that? I digress, I just watched The Fall, a film directed by Tarsem (The Cell) and it's now in my top 10 movies. The cinematography and story are so engaging. I couldn't tear myself away to pee even tho I could have paused the movie. Yes it was that good.

The acting is incredible. The little girl pulled at my heart strings and I'm not even fond of kids.   She along with the lead played by Lee Pace reminds us all how innocence can save us in the darkest of times. Another tangent but why isn't Lee Pace a huge hollywood star? This man has the looks, voice and acting chops.

If you loved Pan's Labyrinth then you'll love The Fall. just imagine a fairytale for adults buttered and glazed in Tarsem's signature style - eye popping colors, landscapes, costuming, and staggered editing. This is as close to avant garde as mainstream movies go.

Critter Crunch (Capybara Games) makes its way to the PSN store this summer so until then this hot hot hot trailer will make to do. I'm a sucker for easy pick-up-and-play games, especially when they're designed around anthropomorphic creatures that vomit rainbows. YES!

Team ICO Pack

teamico_lbp.jpg

This will be my 2nd Little Big Planet pack I'll purchase, the first being the Metal Gear costumes. Too bad I have to wait until August to get my hands on them. At least Media Molecule was nice enough to upload large images to their flickr page.

EyePet E3 2009

eyepet_01.jpg

EyePet, I was worried when there was nary a mention of the aforementioned game during Sony's press conference. Thankfully the gaming gods have graced us with a ton of new screenies and more details about what to expect.

Using the PlayStation Eye, the pet will interact with every object placed in front of it. For example, wave your fingers in front of the camera, and the EyePet will laugh. Roll a ball, and he'll race after it. Poke him with a stick, and he'll jump. There are over 250 objects for EyePet to play with and you can even design your own!

Earth Intruders

battleforterra_07.jpg

What if humans never change, never stop the environmental pillage of Earth, never stop mining our resources like commodities, and never stop warring with each other until it was too late. Planet Earth is completely decimated and the surviving members of our species are stuck on a planetary sized ship with less than 2 months of oxygen left. Our leaders are tasked with an awful decision - to race against time and try to rebuild our world or find another to take - even if it's already inhabited.

Unlike most of the "War of the Worlds" sagas we're familiar with, Battle for Terra is an animated feature exploring what happens to humanity when we are the invaders - taking from another more primitive species in a last ditch effort to save ourselves. Is it justified?

You have to go see this movie. It just came out yesterday but I promise you will not be disappointed. The animation and directing are fantastic. With all all star cast - it's a movie topic that should have long been explored by Hollywood, especially in these chaotic times.

If ever a game existed where your character's main task was to eat everything in sight, then continuously grow in order to access particular areas - then it would be a game destined for the Wii. Namco's upcoming The Munchables combines the gluttony of Pac-Man with the seismic linearity of Katamari. I kinda wanna play it.

WTWTA!

The one sheet is out. WTWTA is slated for Fall 2009. YAY! I cannot wait. As Rupaul would say, "DON'T FUCK IT UP!"

tron2logo.png

Why? Because French electronica duo Daft Punk has been signed to write the original music score for Tron 2.0, Walt Disney's upcoming sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 animation cult hit which was scored by electronic music icon Wendy Carlos. Daft Punk's members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have been involved in various films before, but Tron 2.0 will be their first complete feature film score. The film, scheduled for a 2011 release, is helmed by Joseph Kosinski and will feature Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett. According to industry news reports, Tron 2.0 will play as the "next chapter" after the first film, with Wilde starring as one of the heroes trying to help fight the Master Control Program, the evil intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the 1982 film. The assignment of Daft Punk to score Tron 2.0 has been confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores by Walt Disney Pictures.

OKAYYYYY!!!!! Yes. I can only imagine. I'm doing twirls, finger snaps, and the robot in my head right now.

It's fantastico! This along with Final Fantasy XIII are two of my most anticipated games for the PS3. The extended trailer shows how much more badass Kratos is. Check out the new weapons - lionhead brass knuckles! I swoon.

I'm not really into hack and slash games but God of War is a lot more than that. It's somewhere in between Koei's Dynasty Warriors and Sega's Ninja Gaiden - but with a better story line and dare I say character designs. Just watch the trailer yo!

Mad World

This is exactly why I love the Wii. It's no secret the console is underpowered but that has forced developers to get creative in other ways. Mad World is a prime example. Instead of relying on subpar wanna-be realistic graphics, the environment is totally black and white. The character design is stylized and game play is more akin to an interactive graphic novel. I can't wait for it to come out.

120575-Hd Retro Art - Main Image

The artwork comes courtesy of Orioto, and there's wayyyyy more if you hit this link. Destructiod has all the gigantic versions for download including other classic gaming revisits in HD.

Rubiks Copy 1250682C

The Rubik's 360 is set to repeat the success of the maddening Cube, which became an overnight sensation almost three decades ago and remains the world's fastest-selling toy. Now the reclusive Hungarian inventor hopes to recreate the buzz of Rubik's Cube with his new game, featuring six balls trapped within three transparent plastic spheres.

The puzzle show here ahead of its unveiling at a toy industry fair in Germany on February 5, confronts users with the same frustrating challenge - a task that is simple to understand, with only one possible solution, yet extremely difficult to execute. Players must get the colored balls from an inner sphere into matching slots on the outer sphere by shaking them through a middle sphere that has only two holes.

Are you gonna buy one?

wolverine_game.jpg

Okay if only the real Hugh Jackman could look like this. He kinda does already but this Wolverine is SHREDDED. In other news, it's a screenie from Wolverine's upcoming video game - a fighter DUH. Amazing graphics, system seller maybe, yada yada yada. Are you fixated on the image yet? Clicky for a larger view.

Redesigning Monopoly

Redesigned Monopoly 01

Oh snap! Check out the redesigned Monopoly board game. The tidier package is about 10" square complete with laser cut cards and holders. Even the hotels and houses are neatly lined up in their own box. I especially love the type treatment. It retains classic sensibility while remaining modern.

Unfortunately you can't buy it because it's the creation of Andy Mangold. DARN! I was so ready to treat myself this holiday too. More pics after the jump.

Interactive Opera

Met Opera

Massive stage sets may be nearing their end if the Met's first interactive opera becomes the norm in theatrical entertainment. The first performance of "Faust" utilizes some of the most sophisticated interactive technology to date.

Microphones (not the broadcasting kind) which are attached to the singers and positioned over the orchestra gauge volume and pitch. A system of infrared lights and cameras detect motion; similar technology is used to catch people trying to cross the United States border with Mexico, Mr. Lepage said.
A flock of digitally created birds swirls during Faust's opening aria. As Mr. Giordani's pitch changes, the birds change directions. As the volume surges, they swoop. When soldiers, supported by cables, march perpendicularly up the scaffolding on a projection of grass, the blades waver and part.

For the water-reflection scene, a high-definition camera captures the image of the moving boat. The software flips the image upside down, creates a shimmer and then instructs a projector to play it back simultaneously on the screen below the boat. The movements of ballet dancers during the "Menuet des follets" cause projected images of curtains to flutter and billow. In the production's most striking moment a JumboTron image of Ms. Graham's face appears behind her, emanating flames, as she sings "D'amour l'ardente flame."
