Technically she was raised in Queens but I digress. Cyndi Lauper in 1985 was so New York. Great Prince song, amazing vocals, and unabashed performance. Maybe one day I'll move back.

I'm Hella Old Yo's!
I like the radio alarm setting since it surprises me every morning but this morning I heard Godley & Creme's "Cry" blaring and woke up mouthing the lyrics like no time had passed at all. You see, I was just a wee tike when the song came out. I have vivid images of the video which was supposed to be emotionally groundbreaking for its time. I remember writing the lyrics all over my bedroom walls much to my parent's horror. Writing lyrics on walls? How 80's is that!!! Yes the 80's are my oldies so in retrospect I'm not that old at all but dammit I'm getting there.
