Luau Lamp
A simple design enhanced by some cool features. The Luau Portable Lamp is elegant enough to find a place in your living room, yet functional enough to be lifted off it's tiny charging base to do double duty as a portable lamp.
The amount of light can be controlled and at full brightness, gives you anywhere from 6 - 10 hours of light. The shell is made of polycarbonate making it super lightweight and the built in metal handle makes moving it around a snap.
I already have the candeloo light set. I think I may have to add the Luau to my home soon.

That's Fuggin' Thin
I've always wondered why all flat panel manufacturers try and out-do one another with size. The apex of this battle was when Samsung unveiled it's 102" T.V. only to be kicked in the nuts by Panasonic and their 103" set the very next day. It's great that they can squeeze that many inches out of their diodes, but with that, girth also expands and the unit probably sucks up more electricity than anything else in your home.
So finally somebody wised up and figured out that people who want flat panels, want them because they're thin. Some R&D later, Samsung shows off its 12mm. thick AMOLED TV set called the SDI. The unit uses only a fraction of the power and features a 1000:1 contrast ratio while offering a 170ยบ viewing angle. Other than the thinness, what's really impressive is the screen response time of .01 ms. Can we say flicker free or what?

Elmo Who?
Screw Tickle Me Elmo. Screw him so much, I'm not even going to link to it. Besides, we all know it's totally sold out anyways. Good luck with ebay.
Instead I would like a Turbo Tigger. The name alone send good chills down my spine. And just like the real Tigger, he bounces higher and higher on his springy tail at a frenetic pace. He also talks and the higher he bounces, the more wacky he sounds. Don't believe me? Just check out this video.
Recently added to my gift list, so any of you kind souls out there willing to part with $24.99, please buy it for me. :)

Bathrooms Are So Fun
Because with today's technology, you can listen to music, watch tv, check your email, watch movies, check your voicemails, receive SMS's, and browse photos. Some people think spending oodles of time in the bathroom is stupid. Those same people usually think it's dumb to have a TV in the bedroom, but I won't get into that right now.
This is the Visomatic by the Keuco interior design firm. It's a splash proof LCD display that bridges content from all your devices into a single panel with sizes ranging from 10 to 34 inches - HUZZAH! It also comes with waterproof remote should you not be in reach of the display (how big is your bathroom!?!).
Man, I sooooo need one of these in the crap shack, this sh*t is so slick (no pun intended).

Cubed Images Lit & For Sale
Remember those 3D display cubes every tech and design blog raved over a few months ago? They're finally for sale and at $3000 a piece, it's not cheap but def. an eye catcher no matter where its placed.
To refresh your memories, the 3D display cube is the brain child of James Clar & Associates. It uses LED technology to generate 3D imagery from 2D data. It would be even cooler if you can import true 3D data from Maya or something to create real-time 3D imagery. Possible uses are signage, advertising, or just home display.

Mitsubishi Says Yes to Electric
I'm totally elated with this morning news (subscription required) from Mitsu's President Osamu Masuko about plans to start selling an electric car similar to the CT concept (pics posted above and after the jump).
With Mitsu's current slump from stronger competitors like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Hyundai; the company has been experimenting with new battery technologies and in-wheel electric motors. The fruition to which is the CT concept. Powered by next generation lithium ion batteries (like the ones in your notebooks) that are super light but can handle many more charge cycles than current lithium batteries, Mitsu promises electric vehicles will no longer be confined to short runs and distances. The other half of the equation is the amazing MIEV (Mitsu in-wheel-motors) system which places an electric motor in each wheel creating a car that's basically transmission-less. Remember, electric vehicles are much more torquey than combustion ones since the power band is much more consistent allowing you to sprint off from a full stop.
Although Masuko didn't say specifically when we would see such a car, we do know Mitsu has possessed the tech for quite some time. This is a bold move but one much needed for a company that desperately wants to separate itself from the rest of the "alternative pack". I personally love the CT concept and the return of all electric vehicles was bound to happen sooner or later. Toyota has been working hard on creating a plug-in Prius, could Mitsu actually beat them to it?

About Freakin' Time
I know a few mountain bikers out there that would probably drool for the FlexFix bicycle rack system. You see, the entire rack system is hidden inside the rear bumper of the Opel Antara, a crossover SUV for Europe. The rack slides out to reveal a locking-pin mechanism to hold your bikes.
It's an idea long overdue and why should people in North America care? Simply because the Opel Antara will be sold here as the 2008 Saturn Vue. Do you guys love it or what?
