Insect Lab
Insect Lab is an artist studio that specializes in customizing real insects with antique watch parts and electronic components. This is true science fiction come to life. Every single creation is startling. I found myself looking closely at the beetles because you can really see all the tiny gears and switches. It's masterfully crafted and beautiful. I'm almost tempted to buy one myself.
Each insect comes in a shadow box or glass bell jars perfect for displaying. They've got spiders, butterflies, beetles, bees and more ranging from $200 - $300.

That's really beautiful.
I like the bee the most. I don't think I would want to own them, cause they are made of real animals, but I would like to see them.

All I feel is sad. Those were living creatures, now they are dead, and being exploited. It is unnatural. Living beings are not meant to have ridiculous cogs and watchparts in them. They were perfect creations in life. They've been destroyed to be mutilated in death. How awful. This is not science fiction. And these horrible spectacles have no purpose. Why put a desecrated body on display?
And just so everyone knows: NO! I am not any of the following... vegetarian, activist, religious, mentally unstable, or anything else people might want to dismiss me as. I was browsing for pictures of bumblebees out of sheer interest, and just happened along this site through google. I have to say, I am quite disturbed, and wish I never saw these things. I had no idea people did things like this to animals. I am baffled. Why? Where's the sense or purpose?

Beautiful :) the machinery is delicate and strange like the insects.
Ava, this is art not some trophy stag mounted on a wall. All the points you make are valid interpretations, I wouldn't want to dismiss them. :P

Pardon, that last comment was in response to Jessie not Aya.

I see the art and the desecration of life all at the same time, I think that's why its so interesting. I wish it was done with replicas and not real insects(gives me the creeps) but the thought behind it is sort of beautiful.
I also was just board and googled bees and found this :P
