Visually See The Effects Of Smoking

Smoke Jacket-1

That's the idea behind Fiona Carswell's Smoking Jacket. The smoker exhales smoke into a special area in the collar. The smoke then gets channeled thru a series of tubes into plastic lungs on the front of the jacket. Over time, the lungs will turn yellow and stain. If you don't smoke, the stain and smoke will eventually dissipate.

The whole design uses visceral communication to remind smokers what they're doing to their bodies, an alternative to using patches, pills and chewing gum.

so, i am a recovering nicotine addict...it is said that after 4 years of not smoking your chances of getting lung cancer are cut in half, after ten years its like you never smoked a cig in your life....but really i just wanted to say that after i quit my sense of smell went through the roof...and i bet this jacket really stinks after awhile, but def. a cool concept.

This was built and debuted at the ITP Spring Show at NYU. I think you would really like that event. You should go to the next show (the fall show). It's an amazing program: Ester Dyson and Clay Shirkey have a big hand in it.
