Don't Ask Don't Tell Master Chief

In general the Xbox Live environment is rampant with homophobia and racism. Made of up of mostly males, it seems when protected behind the veil of a screen name, feel free to say whatever they want at the expense of another player's feeling. Be it a type of fraternal joking or is there some truth underlying their comments?

In the case of one gay gamer who decided to come out to his Xbox Live mates by using the gamer tag "xxxGayBoyxxx", it's clear why the Xbox 360 is seen as a hardcore adolescent male dominated virtual space that's neither tolerable or accountable.

being gay is what keeps me sane, knowing no one in the world is like me, or what i feel, and yet i have never felt the urge to sign as 'i'm a big homo'. perhaps 'xxxgayboyxxx' is just coming out the only way he knows how.

or maybe he's just homophobic. either way, the world doesn't want to know.

So sad. Life is really a brief, amazing thing and it's sad that almost all suffering comes unnecessarily at the hands of our own species.
