Get With The New Dances

I'm only 27 but I can admit how I danced when I was was 19 is now outdated. So in order to re-educate myself, I went looking for the hottest dance styles this year. You've got American Krumping, French Techtonik, and Dutch Jumpstyle. Hit the jump to watch each dance style in action. I think I'll take up Techtonik.
Krumping is known for its expressive and highly energetic movements.
Techtonik is a mix of disco, pop locking, and vogueing.
Jumpstyle is characterized by its jumping and stomping movements, carefully combined in choreographed sequences.

I am 17, and I think old 70s and 80s dance look more like dancing than nowadays... even waltzing! But again, dances changes adccording to the development of our music changes.
The last one looks like dance dance rev!

I'm French and I know Tecktonik and Jumpstyle. It's a real new movement that makes teen look crazy... but I think it's very funny. :)

In defence of me and my fellow dutch, I must add only a small amount of people here really does jumpstyle.
The rest of us just point at them and laugh.

You forgot to include moshing. Not the stupid push-moshing that occurs at Korn and Slipknot concerts, I'm talking about scissor kicks, windmills, spinkicks, floorpunching and all that jazz. Google "hardcore dancing" and you might find something... or just go to a hatebreed show.

Moshing is so stupid. I was tolerant of it because it looks so damn funny, until I got backhanded by a flying windmill. Moshers suck! Long live krumping!

As a former breakdancer... I don't see how you call these things dance styles. They lack variation and technique. Sure you can say that they were dancing, after all, the simplest dance is just rocking your body to the beat. However, as a style...they just don't cut it. Go look at some real ballet, swing, ballroom, and breakdance videos and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Okay, so the first couple of krumpers in the video looked alright, they were simply breakdancing while twitching their arms. Then the nutty girls came along...oh they were terrible.
By the way, moshing is NOT breakdancing for those referring to windmills and such. Breaking includes popping, locking, floor and power moves, which requires a lot more than just jerking around your body to the beat as seen above.

Dan get off it. Dancing is all about allowing your body to feel and move with music. That is the core of it all. Sure, it's not as technical as ballet or break dancing but that doesn't negate the fact that it is a style, a part of a cultural movement happening right now.

All of that was pretty effin sweet. If you got into the techtonik shit, then you should also go to youtube, and checkout shuffeling. Like the Melbourne shuffle, or Backyard raver. Thats what I've been getting into. I do a mix of shuffeling and Techtonik.
ps~As a breaker, I dont know how you can possibly talk down about anyones dancing. Cause, out of everyone, I would figure you to be tolerant of other dance styles. Yes... styles. Cause that5s what they are. I would like to see you give it a go. =)
