Goldfrapp Live Lounge

Goldfrapp-Owl

I'm highly anticipating Goldfrapp's latest album "Seventh Tree" which comes out end of month. They're already embarking on a European tour and I got to hear a little sample this morning on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge at BBC radio 1. Alison's voice in "A&E" is enchanting and you can hear it even more with the new electronicless acoustic sound they're going for. As a bonus, they also sang "It's Not Over Yet" a cover by the Klaxons which itself is a cover by Grace in the 90's.

The owl almost (and I said almost) looks like a monster from FFXII... The "Wu" or whatever... from Ozmone plains... and Giza...

(yeah, I know I'm a geek. But I'm a lovable one :P)

I hate to be negative, but as a very long time Goldfrapp fan to another... prepare to be disappointed.

None of the other songs are anywhere near as good as A&E... which isn't anywhere near some of their other past work.

I've heard the whole album and I too didn't like it upon first listen. True the other songs are not as rhythmically catchy as A&E but they grew on me.

Sort of like a Bjork album. After repeated listens, the lyrics and melodies seem to come together beautifully and I'd venture to say Seventh Tree is one of Goldfrapp's best.
