May not be really big news unless you're into fashion or love Puma. Okay in hindsight that's like everybody so guess what? Puma bought a huge stake in Hussein Chalayan's business and taking on the designer as Puma's first ever Creative Director.
I'm excited Chalayan's ideas will finally have the financial backing of a company rich enough to let him do what he wants. I can only imagine what he'll create for Puma. The flip side is the death of another independent fashion house. Chalayan is one of the very few "cerebral" fashion designers out there. He marches to his own beat and many of my fashion peers feel the industry is now a big conglomerate.
