My Latest Sweater

As winter approaches I need to start thinking about warm clothes and nothing warms better than a wool sweater. Unfortunately cashmere ain't cheap but lucky for me I have a dog that sheds enough to clothe a small village.

And I'm not the only one with that idea. The people at Pet Yarn Chic will take your dog's hair and spin it into yarn. They'll even knit something for you. Before you gag (or maybe you've been gagging since the first paragraph), here me out. Dog hair is super soft and gets softer the more you wash it. Unlike cashmere, you can throw it in the washer because of its durability.

as a seasoned knitter, I do gag at the thought of wearing pet hair. while I realise wool, alpaca and the like are all animal hair - there's something about pets that make it feel wrong.

find a good soft, superwash merino and have someone knit something out of it for you. or just buy a readymade sweater.

I have a Bichon Frisé, they don't shed. I do give her a haircut in the summer, but I just can't imagine collecting and storing it over time. Plus, doesn't dog fur smell really bad when wet?
