Made From Water Buffalo Horns

sireglasses_01.jpg
I'm simultaneously grossed out and intrigued by this beautiful collection called SIRE. Grossed out because it's from an animal used for fashion. Intrigued because each frame is made of 7 thin layers of water buffalo horn exquisitely hand crafted and polished. The horn fibers run in opposite directions for strength and flexibility. No idea how much they cost but there are 3 standard frames and 3 corrective versions.

Just so there's no confusion, water buffalo shed their horns. Although the animals are killed for food and leather, their horns can be harvested ethically and responsibly. I hope they are. Hit the jump for more pics.
