SimCity DS Coming to a Japan Near You
There have been several SimCity attempts outside the desktop computing realm, all of them sorta . . . sucked. The DS however seemed to be the best platform to exploit with it's dual and touch screen.
Japan gets a DS version of SimCity based off SimCity 3000 for the PC. New features include multiplayer function and a bobble-head like Will Wright (creator of the original) as your advisor.
No word yet whether or not the game will see release outside Japan. In my opinion, this game is a must have and if I'm forced to import one then so be it, but please please make an English version and set that baby loose.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Rings of Fate
I loved Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube so when Sqeenix announced a sequel for the Nintendo DS, I was giddier than a girl scout hawking her cookies (pun totally intended).
The new trailer definitely delivers. I'm so excited for the multiplayer action to totally take over my life on weekends (yes super geek here). The new trailer shows more in-game shots and it looks incredible. It's amazing how much Sqeenix has been able to squeeze out of DS hardware. Enjoy the trailer!

There's Still Time!

Well maybe not the $800 TiVO, but everything else on there is ready to be bought and shipped to you're favorite gadget-crazed fashionista blogger with a sick interest in science, a.k.a ME!

Naked Illusions
I did a double take when I first saw these photos for Humo Magazine, shot by Kurt Stallaert. The concept is simple. Paint human genitalia so it's nakedness is rebuffed with amazing make-up. Yes all these people are still naked, but interestingly enough I find myself analyzing how a penis and vagina can look like something else. Kurt Stallaert is brilliant and I just wanted to share with you all these amazing photos.

Snowshi
Hardcore gamers are a very unique breed. Nintendo fanboys are an ever more fanatical bunch. Say what you will about them but only a Nintendo fan would spend the time to mold and sculpt this AWESOME Snowshi. God, how I want to be there now.
Snowmen can be cute like the Yoshi above, but they can also be super creepy. Just check out this Russian city seemingly invaded by an army of smiling snowmen.

Nausicaa Fo' Real?
Have you seen Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaa yet? If you haven't, you problem won't give a damn about OpenSky 2.0
Just for reference, the Princess Nausicaa uses a flying contraption to surf the skies and now a Japanese program called OpenSky aims to recreate Princess Nausicaa's flying wing.

Insect Lab
Insect Lab is an artist studio that specializes in customizing real insects with antique watch parts and electronic components. This is true science fiction come to life. Every single creation is startling. I found myself looking closely at the beetles because you can really see all the tiny gears and switches. It's masterfully crafted and beautiful. I'm almost tempted to buy one myself.
Each insect comes in a shadow box or glass bell jars perfect for displaying. They've got spiders, butterflies, beetles, bees and more ranging from $200 - $300.

Kazakhstan's Massive Tent
Despite what Borat's movie might have you believe, Kazakhstan is not a broke down poor country completely lost in the sea of western and industrialized nations. They have a strong democracy and its capital Astana, is quickly becoming one of the most spectacular urban centers in central Eurasia.
The city's latest endeavor is the Khan Shantyry Entertainment Centre. The structure is a vast tent and cabling system soaring high into the air encompassing 100,000 square meters! The concept came from the people's need for a safe environment during the harsh winters and summers. The structure will become that venue housing a park, entertainment, landscaping, wave pools and retail space. 200 meters above the base will be terrace offering dramatic views of the park, city and sky.

DIY Photo Blocks
I've been on this D.I.Y. kick lately. I'm finding it to be much more rewarding that my usual gift/receipt/neat packaging combo. There are a few people whom I have no idea what to get so they automatically get home-made gifts.
The Photo Block Kit by Photojojo is a perfect gift for that person. Each kit comes with eight 2 x 3 hardwood blocks (good enough for two sets), some special glue, foam brush and sealer. Grab a 4x 6 photo and follow the instructions to create a beautiful photo block. The sealer protects the photo and creates a beautiful finish. They can play around with arrangement and create a custom look in their home or office.
ENJOY!

Marvel Meets Peanuts
Some talented artists over at Statue Forum have recreated classic Marvel Images using Peanuts characters. The parody is brilliant. I wish they were high-res because I would love to print them out. Just go and look now!

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
Growing up, there were two classics that defined part of what Christmas meant to me and they were A Charlie Brown's Christmas and the stop-motion classic Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. Even today, I never get tired watching or buying licensed products from both franchises, so it was a great joy when someone gave me all 6 characters from the 1964 Rudolph classic.
I was so freakin' full of glee when I opened the package. This is the perfect gift for that person who still a kid at heart (we all know who they are within our circle of friends). These stuffed toys are exquisitely made and are quite big ranging from 13-16 inches. All of them are here; Rudolph, Hermey, Abominable Snowman, Sam Snowman, Tukon and Santa.
They are a little pricey at $30 each (Rudolph is $35) so THANK YOU so much Rui! I love you to iddy-biddy pieces!

I Love WonderRobbie
I want to introduce to you all WonderRobbie. He makes me laugh so hard, my stomach cartwheels in pain. This man is obsessed with Wonder Woman (hence his nickname) and has a love for all things animated. In fact, he's quite animated himself and a master lip-syncer. He often records himself lip-syncing to songs we all love to hate and most of the time, it's frighteningly good.
My favorite performance is Poor Unfortunate Soul by the evil Ursula from The Little Mermaid. And just for reference, make sure you check out the original animated version from Disney. Isn't he freakin' amazing?!?!?
