Gun metal greys, bomber jackets, motorcycle cop silhouettes, military structures, cotton, nylon, satin, and shearling all make Dell'acqua's latest collection one of my favorites. The lines are clean but not boring. The fit is relaxed and the cut is still very masculine.

Sundance Film Festival Part 1

Sundance06 09

Our first time in Utah and aside from the feeling of isolation, blandness, and utter nothingness out there, the Utahans(?) have some of the finest snow I've ever touched.

So true to form, we spent some time snowboarding and skiing. The snow was beautiful against the red rocks. The condo we stayed in was comfy and cozy. The sky was as blue and clear as the waters around Hawaii. The air was super crisp and clear.

We stayed in the Olympic town of Park City and you could so totally tell it was recently built. Everything was so new and well thought out. You could even ski and snowboard right into town with Park City's ski lifts running thru the city.

Utah is pristine. It seems almost untouched. Its beauty was awesome right until you settled into the surroundings, then you realized . . .

Cold air + dry air + high altitudes meant static everything and light headiness. At least for me, I found myself out of breath just walking up a slight incline.

Part 2 to come soon (if plankton can get those damn photos off his phone). Photos include a semi-night out on the town and talk about my favorite movie this year so far from the festival; Michel Gondry's Science of Sleep.

Rubber Band Gatling

Rubberband Gatlinggun

You know this baby is made in the good ole' USA. The rubber band gatling machine gun has a turret that spins effortlessly 360º making it easy to track your target, shooting off 560 rounds of bands per minute!

Slanket

I want this so bad, I can't even begin to express how bad. A Slanket is basically a gigantic fleece throw with arm holes. Take something made for comfort and security and make it wearable. BRILLIANT!

And before plankton makes some lame and smart ass comment about how I already wear throw blankets at home and at work, let me point out the picture above. Look how much fun that guy is having! Look how comfortable he looks! How can the idea of a wearable blanket be anything but good?

Please buy me one!

Illuminated Dance Floors

Lightfloor 01

This is not the first time dance floors can be lit, difference is, these floors can be hooked up to the dj equipment and thereafter synched to the music. Each panel responds to the movements on the floor which provides DJs and VJs complete control over the floor so that they can effectively integrate it into their current routine or create a totally new immersive experience.

Something for Sander kleinenberg to think about...i hope.

Somnambulic

Somnambulic 7

Our neighbor in the Great White North (do they really call Canada that?) is home to many cute furry animals both large and small. Canada is also home to some of the most expansive hunting practices in North America so artist Martin Beauregard has created an installation called Somnambulic that triggers the confusion between cuddly toys and hunted animals, between play-acting and hunting rights. He's confronting the world of childhood fantasy and the harsh brutality of hunting.

One of the pieces is called Wake Up Teddy - a giant stuffed toy bear made from real bear skins.

If you live in New York, please go check it out at Location One.

SWORDS Battle Bots

Swords Bots

Meet the worlds first robotic combat soldier, a.k.a SWORDS (Special Weapons Observation Remote Direct Action System). Although its floating arm can be equipped with any number of weapons, no need to fear it turning on us since its remote controlled.

SWORDS has seen combat in the middle east with positive results (or so the military reports). The bot is completely silent, can keep pace with a running soldier, climb stairs, right itself, negotiate rough terrain, overcome trap wire, and plow thru most debris. Aside from all those abilities, perhaps the most outstanding is its accuracy. True to computer form, its weapon/rocket launcher is 99.9% accurate.

During the early days of the war, reports came out of how poorly supplied many of the U.S. soldiers were. Now that years have gone by, and the casualties continually rise, SWORDS gives insight into the future of warfare, a device independent of supplies and replaceable. Ironically, its place on the battlefield will mean less loss of human life for us, but more for our enemies.

Truly SWORDS is the epitome of science and human ingenuity on display; with two faces, one benefiting and one retarding.

Waves Goodbye To Aibo

Goodbyeaibo

Sony officially pulls the plug on its robotics program so it hurts me to wave goodbye to Aibo and QRIO, mainly Aibo.

In the past 5 years, Aibo has managed to grow from a simple and slow robot to a sleek advance simulation robo-puppy that has more tricks in the bag than a magic bunny. So why would Sony kill it?

Obviously, Sony is going thru tough times. They are bleeding money and as the old saying goes, "don't have all your eggs in one basket", Sony had the opposite problem. They spread themselves too thin trying to do everything and in the end, when quarter profits don't meet up with project revenue, it's time to streamline.

I suspect the Aibo and QRIO programs cost Sony a shit load of money in the R&D department and since they are niche products, better to lay those to rest and tackle what people the world over know Sony for - household electronics, an area that Sony is losing to Korean manufacturers.

On a positive note, Sony promises to continue it's A.I. research so in a way, Aibo's spirit will live on, ready to be reincarnated into other gizmo goodies.

Bye Aibo, we'll miss you!

The publication of the series aren't limited by seasons. The UEG season lasts all year long. BodyBox by Whirlpool

Shower 01-1

Hi all!

I'm back, hope you all had a great start on the new year!

BodyBox by whirlpool is foremost a "detached" piece of technological furniture bringing body and cloths-care in one discreet unit.

Essential Functions in the cloths-care cycle are integrated: collecting, sorting, washing, conditioning, tumbling, and even steam/dry cleaning for gentle conditioning of cloths over night. Sorting is accomplished by means of tagging and logging each item in bins. After analysis of the associated fabric and care data stored in the label, the adequate care-cycle is automatically programmed. Detergents and conditioners are dosed as powders thus allowing for bulk refills. The Interface is a large 18" touch screen panel. Input is given via the screen or remotely through the home network. All systems self-update via internet.

There are lots of cool features for the shower unit as well, like heated towel cabinets and hot steam.

Is this thing the bomb or what, its almost as good if not better then living at home with mom again...

Beggar

FacaNadzorne Kamere

The number of people living below the poverty line is increasing every year and support systems for them seem to be collapsing all around. We have to remember that impoverished people are not always lazy, drug ladened society rejects. In fact, most impoverished people are quite the opposite and live within the confines of their homes struggling to make ends meat. It's hard as the cost of living continually rises while wages stagnate and no one can blame human pride. We all need help sometimes but it's just hard to ask. Well now there's a robot for the materially deprived.

Beggar is a robot constructed entirely from old computer hardware and a few spare parts that can be obtained at no cost. While preserving the anonymity and dignity of its owner, the robot has access to areas normally off limits to solicitors such as shopping malls and community events, where the richer frequent. People generally avoid eye contact with beggars but replaced with a robot, curiosity rises and soon crowds gather around the robot entranced by its simple face and simple message, "please help me." Oddly, people are more willing to part with their money if they communicate from a safe distance via an artificial interface, namely the robot.

Remote Beads 01

Imagine a TV remote control combined with beads. Each glass bead is customizable, allowing you to decide how you want to surf - by channel or a more conventional layout. The beads glow and pulse when you slightly press them, effortlessly shifting thru channels in a new habitual manner.

Remote Beads 02

Think about the beads as an empty canvas to store information. Perhaps you can save your favorite photo album to a bead, go to you friend's home and beam the photo album directly to their TV for sharing.

The best thing about "remobeads"? You'll never lose your remote again.

Move Over, My Tryke Is Comin Thru

Gx3-03-1

Volkswagen recently unveiled their GX3 concept at this years LA Auto Show and the response was overwhelmingly positive. They also let it slip that the U.S. gov'ment have approved the three wheeled motorcycle inspired vehicle for legal street and freeway usage. So what's it mean for us?

Well as it stands, VW says it's only a concept but is willing to bring it to market if demand is there. As I said before, the public absolutely loved what they saw and at under $17k, VW might create a new market.

Spec wise, the GX3 is pretty impressive. It's basically a motorcycle in a tryke design making it much more stable. It also gets motorcycle fuel economy at an impressive 46 mpg and yet still manages to go from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. DMV classifies the vehicle as a motorcycle so yes, you do have to wear a helmut but that also means you can ride in car pool lanes all by yourself. Awesome huh?

VW, BRING IT!

Bike Above The City

Velo City

Contrary to belief I am NOT anti-bicycle. I would gladly ride a bike from point A to B, but I refuse to when all they give you is a tiny so-called bike lane usually filled with right-turning cars and litter.

Toronto architect Chris Hardwicke proposes "a high spped all season pollution free transit system" called Velo-City. The elevated infrastructure houses cycle tracks networking major parts of a city. Bicyclers can ride faster and not have to worry about pedestrians and cars. The cycle tracks are protected inside a glass tube shielding it from snow and rain so all year riding would be possible. The tubes are also ventilated, a/c'd and heated depending on temperature.

Can you image how beautiful a city would look with elevated glass tubes lit up in the night? I so hope they build it.

Ooh You Turn Me Inside Out

Kr 01

I have a collection of stuffed toys at work and one of them is a stuffed bear turned inside out. It looks frail and a bit disturbing and yet when I first saw it, I knew I had to have it.

Now I've found an artist that takes all kinds of stuffed toys and turns them inside out. His name is Kent Rogowski and his work is striking. Cute stuffed animals lose much of their "cuteness" when turned inside out as the grotesque seams seem to fight it away. Look closer and it's as if the cuteness just doesn't want to go away, its still there - only minimized, a hint of what it once was.

The Power Of Dreams

Eurohondacivic Commercial

That's Honda's tagline and in their latest commercial for the European spec Civic, it's a worthy one.

A choir of human voices used to not just express the sounds of cars but to mimic them. It's so real but yet off just enough for you to hear the distinct chorus of humans "singing".

I implore you go to this site and watch the video.

On another note, I am jealous that Europe gets a hatch a Civic while we here in the U.S. get a sedan and a coupe. A hatch Civic makes it so much more useful and I would think American have much more crap to haul around this vast landscape than the Euros do.

The Veins of Los Angeles

La Lights

Los Angeles is like no other city in the U.S. Its massive freeway system turning, intertwining, careening, and interjecting thru traffic, buildings, rivers, and mountain passes - mapping a visual treatment of lights in movement. From below, it seems a mess, but from above it can feel haunting and calming all at the same time.

I've lived in New York, Dallas, Houston, and San Francisco. Los Angeles is unique and when successful, breeds a certain type of person. A person that is always searching for the next best thing, immune to BS, recognizes liars and fakes, and extremely mobile.

Those are the reasons why I love Los Angeles.

Conversate Table

Convo Table

YES I know "conversate" is not a word but I use it and use it proudly. So ERIC, you can shut up about proper word and grammar usage! :)

The Conversation Table measures the social dynamics that takes place during a one-to-one conversation. Who dominates it?

As two people conversate (converse), LED's embedded along the center of the table are activated by the pattern of exchange. Microphones pick up the duration and the volume of the conversation at regular intervals, and trigger light animation from the end where one speaks towards the other. If both people speak, the lights crash and battle to get to the other end.

Finally, a visual way for me to let some people know they talk way too damn much. :)

A Transforming Bike

Yamaha Deinonychus

For the last 125 years, motorcycles have been made up of two wheels and a motor and have always been arranged as a wheel, motor and another wheel - in that order. Since the dawn of in-wheel electric motors, designers have more room to make some interesting changes and Yamaha is the first to take a serious look at alternative bike designs that are affordable, eco-friendly, and easily manufactured.

The Deinonychus prototype takes full advantage of the greater chassis design freedom afforded by an in-wheel motor, and offers a completely new type of two-wheel drive electric vehicle with stretch and shrink functions in vertical and horizontal directions. The Deinonychus is extremely lightweight and it's power source can come from a hybrid or fuel cell stack.

Watch Out 7-eleven!

Shop24

7-eleven revolutionized consumer demand in the early 60's when it became the first convenience store to go 24-hours. It fulfilled the need to get what you want NOW and from that core philosophy, has expanded to become one of the most recognized brands in the world.

Other retailers have opened such as AM/PM, but essentially they all build upon the 7-eleven business model.

A new dog is in town and he has something to say about the future of convenience stores. Shop 24 is an independent retailer offering the same things you'd find in any other convenience store except with one major difference; it's entirely automated. The shops currently exist all over Europe and the company has plans to bring it to the U.S.

How it works; you come up to a computer terminal, enter the codes for the item(s) you want, pay using cash, credit, or ATM, then watch the robot gather all your items, pack, and deliver it to the take-out gate within 20 seconds. It would be awesome if you could do all your shopping online, pay, and take a ticket number to your local Shop 24 and just pick up your items. The entire process is quick and painless and brings us one step closer to the livin' large and in charge like the Jetsons.

Aside from the consumer advantage, there's also a huge business opportunity for individuals. Shop 24 plans on franchising in the U.S. so individuals have a chance to own a store that makes them money but significantly cuts down on over-head costs. Each shop is also fully equipped with automated security systems therefor making it a lot safer for patrons.

Coming in 2006, so look for it on the corner, the subway/bus stop, airport terminals, universities, libraries, along long stretches of highway, and anywhere else that has a hungry-thirsty human. As the old saying goes, build them and they will come.

Packaging Rules

Admit it! You know there have been times where product packaging has swayed you to part with your hard earned money. Currently, one of the kings of packaging design is Apple Computer. This company's artful touch isn't just limited to their beautiful hardware, but it resonates right down to the styrofoam and cardboard that ships them.

Apple Sendai Packaging

Take for instance this t-shirt my friend sent to me from Apple in Japan. The shirt comes in a carefully folded origami box. If this shirt were to come from somewhere else, you know it would be some crinkly plastic sleeve. No other company makes me feel guilty about throwing away packaging like Apple does.

Mazda RX-8 Fucks A Miata

Kabura 01

"Daddy Daddy! The RX-8 fucked the Miata and look what they made!"
"Yes baby girl, that is a Kabura, a Mazda Kabura"

Before I go into specifics, lets discuss the origins of that word. Kabura is a Japanese term taken from KABURAYA which is an arrow that makes a howling sound when fired to signal the start of a major battle.

Okay, so should Mazda's competitors be shakin' in their boots? Is Mazda declaring war with this "arrow?" The short answer is no. Mazda says they have no plans to build this car as it is purely concept, but then again they said the same thing about the RX-8 and the recently announced CX-7. Based on their record, I would say they are OPEN to building it if the interest is high enough.

Size wise the Kabura fits right in between the larger RX-8 and the smaller Miata. This car is aimed towards a younger audience. A sporty ride with utility and part of that means changing the 2+2 layout almost all cars have adhered to. The Kabura is 3+1 meaning two seats in the front and only one in the rear. Mazda's justification is that people who drive smaller sport cars don't need a four seater. At most they need seats for 3 people and a lot of storage space. Most sport cars today attempt to cram in a back seat which couldn't seat anyone comfortably unless they were passed out. With just one seat in the rear, that passenger has much more leg and elbow room.

Other noteworthy features are the cockpit which is laid out to maximize space and turn all control over to the driver. The interior is also made of 100% recycled waste making it far more environmentally friendly without looking cheap or plasticky. With Mazda's latest hybrid and fuel cell showings, I wouldn't be surprised if they integrated that technology into the Kabura.

Everything about this car screams sex and science at me. The face, large wheel arches, large hatch, and unique interior layout make this a winner in my book. In a way, it looks like a distant cousin of the Lexus coupe in Minority Report.

Mazda BUILD IT!

Honda Promises

Hondafcx Fuelcell-1

For me, the real big announcement at this years NAIAS is the promise Honda made. Their FCX Fuel Cell concept will be production ready in 3 - 4 years.

In the last 5 years, engineers have had to cope with obstacles such as cold starting, mileage and range equal to that of today's petrol based vehicles. Honda has said they've moved beyond that stage and since 2000 have concentrated on the other half of the equation; infrastructure.

Fuel Cell infrastructure cannot simply be something handed off to the government in hopes of fueling stations magically popping up all over the country. It is PAINFULLY obvious much of government is too tied up in said-be alliances with the major oil companies. Honda believes it is up to the auto industry to come up with a solution to help push in the era of fuel cells. They've come up with the home energy station that can be installed in an industrial environment like future gas stations or in private residences. In a private setting the energy station could provide enough power to give the FCX a 350 mile range POLLUTION FREE.

If Honda adheres to its words, then in 4 years time, we will really begin to see the first of a new age where technology forces governments and companies to finally face the music and embrace fuel cells. Honda is at the forefront of this new breed and they know that clean air and engines won't be enough to sell. They know the car has to operate just like any other car so the transition into the masses is smooth and seamless. Nobody wants to learn how to drive again and because of that, the FCX has all of today's amenities plus tomorrows innovations.

I can't wait!

FinePix V10

Finepix V10 01

Ah another camera to lust after. Although I still like the Kodak V570 more for its dual lens setup and sleek package, this Fuji FinePix V10 comes in a close second. In fact, it would be perfect for someone that just needs an excellent compact camera that makes taking photos as easy as possible.

Not to mention the photos do look fantastic. Most compact digital cams have the light-depth problem meaning in a dark setting, your foreground subjects are lit but the background is dark with lots of noise. The FinePix V10 promises their 5th generation optics are so sensitive, even the darkest settings can be well lit with the flash, essentially eliminating all noise.

5.1 megapixels, 3.4 optical zoom, LARGE 3" LCD screen which covers the entire rear of the camera, and game function to boot. That's right, ever get bored of just taking photos? The camera comes with 4 built in games to be played with on it's large bright and colorful LCD.

No pricing yet but I expect it to be in the $299 - $399 range.

Rainbow Bright Girl

My friend dragged my ass EARLY in the morn all the way down to the O.C. to Fashion Island Mall; 1 hour drive. Coupled with the fact that my early morning drowsiness hadn't worn off when we got there, I just went straight to the place where I knew I would feel comfortable among the rich and "new money" of Newport Beach - I went to the Apple Store.

I saw this girl with the "dopest" kicks. Dammit I forgot her name but I do remember I instantly labeled her "Rainbow Bright" so that's what I'll call her.

Just take a gander at those boots. Her story? She realized she needed a new memory card for her digital camera so she rolled out of bed and rocked her rainbow house boots down to the Apple Store.

Geek vs. Genius

Yesterday something amazing happened. It's a sign that the inevitable will happen; nerds from two sides of the computer industry clash. Oddly, they have the same goals; to make computers and living in the digital age easier for the average person. They differ in that they represent two camps, one PC centric, the other MAC zealots. The showdown? BEST BUY of all places.

So yesterday I had to purchase a belated holiday gift for a friend so I figured I'll just cruise Best Buy and see if anything jumps out at me. As always, I eventually find my way over to the computers and software section. This is a side note but PC manufacturers are really REALLY trying to make their units look more attractive. I can remember 5 years ago, they could care less what they looked like. Anyways, I digress. So as I was scanning the shelves, I overheard a customer's conversation with a nerd-esque guy. Turns out, he's a Geek Squad team member, fully uniformed; his dark shades in his shirt pocket too. The customer went on and on about how her new PC laptop she received for Christmas wouldn't connect to her home wireless connection. After the geek spent some time mulling about her computer, he then asked what type of wireless system she was using. She seemed confused but blurted out, "I think it's an Apple, it has a shiny apple on it." The Geek then sighed and told her that Apple is notorious for using proprietary technology and that may be the reason why her PC wouldn't connect. Now I myself being pretty Mac savvy was almost ready to interject but another customer jumped in and told the lady what the Geek just explained was simply untrue. He asked the lady if he could take a look at her laptop and with a couple clicks here and there, he told her to go home and try it now. This stranger then looked at the Geek and said, "I'm an Apple Genius." The lady looked even more perplexed now and just muttered a thank you before leaving. The Best Buy Geek barely cracked a smile at the Genius and I SWEAR there was tension.

Think about it. Here are two men purported to be experts in their realm but one was clearly outclassed. Not only had he been corrected by an Apple Genius but corrected on his own turf.

I eventually just bought a gift certificate and went home. I got to thinking what these two nerd cultures represent. In someways, Best Buy's Geek Squad are just as fanatical as Apple team members. They all wear sudo Agent Smith uniforms and ride around in blk/wht VW Beetles. My mind started racing with ideas about how and when if ever there would be a proper place for these two camps to battle it out - to see who really is the superior; the Geek or the Genius. Jeopardy anyone?

On a more superficial note, both the Geek and the Genius were quite handsome and sexy. I did a little research just to see how the rest of them might look.

Check it out for yourself. Which do you prefer?

satuGO

Satugo 01

Imagine combing your love for bouncing balls (everyone knows I love a good ball bounce) and your obsession for taking pictures into one. What would you get? A bouncing ball with a camera inside it and it has a name; Satugo.

Simply throw Satugo into the motive to catch the moment. Where it hits, you get a picture. You can also take air photos by activating the timer before throwing. Attach it to your belt loop and shoot from the hip. On top of all that, attach it to your computer and it acts as a digital storage device.

So how can you get one? EASY. It's currently just a concept on the verge of becoming reality. The creators just need to prove to their investors there's interest out there and they promise by signing up on their mailing list, they might send you one for free. :)

Did I mention I LOVE to bounce balls?

Kodak! Go Ahead Wit Yo Badself

Kodak V570 01

Okay, so Kodak slipped up back in the early days of the digital revolution, believing digital photography would take longer to reach full market penetration. That decision weighed heavily on their fate as the company went to near bankruptcy and they have been struggling to catch up ever since.

Now Kodak finally has the look and power to be envied by other cam manufactures. Their latest cams have built in wifi allowing you to upload images directly to your computer and printer. Some enterprising people have even managed to get the camera to send their photos directly to their flickr account. Now that's some cool shit!

Today, Kodak unveiled a brand new camera called the V570, the world's first dual-lens digital camera. The V570 holds an ultra-wide angle lens (23 mm) and a second 37 x 117 mm 3X optical zoom lens. The dual-lens makes taking photos incredibly easier since the optics can adjust for unsteady hands instead of digital stabilization. With two lens, you also capture as much light and true colors as possible. The resolution comes out to a respectable 5 megapixels all housed in a sleek case less than 1" thick. On the rear you have your standard controls with a large 2.5" LCD screen. The camera is also capable of MPEG-4 recording at 30 frames per second.

I am really liking this camera. Now if I can only get my hands on one for a review. If it all turns out to be as good as it sounds, I may pick one up since this camera, crammed with this much technology is only a measly $399 coming out later this January.

Suzuki Goes Radebaugh On Us

Px 01

One of the coolest concepts coming out of Japan is from little automaker Suzuki. Okay, they may be small fries here in America but they are number 3 in Japan.

This concept called the PX was unveiled this past October at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like the press in the west really got a chance with it. Suzuki decided to give journalists one more chance by releasing official photos and I must say, the vehicle is a statement on retro futuristic classic airstream design, so prevalent in the 30's and 40's. I will go so far as to say they must have been inspired by the works of Radebaugh.

Radebaugh was a commercial illustrator from the 30's - 60's but his most well known work is his "The Future We Were Promised" series of airbrush paintings. Radebaugh was the first to envision the future with sleek streamline designs that were both pragmatic and fantastical. He saw a future where science is so technically perfected, it becomes art.

Radebaugh 02

If you look at this Radebaugh painting and look at the Suzuki PX, it's as if a vehicle from one of his paintings came to life.

The PX may look retro on the outside but its all futuristic on the inside. Powered by an eco-efficient four-cylinder engine, the PX offers high-class and comfort; chalk full of amenities reminiscent of the great airstream caravans of the past. The interior is defined by silver finishes, oversized train like leather seating, with an innovative approach to third row seating by having it fold out to become the second row, maximizing space for rear passengers when folded away. The exterior is impressive with large wheel arches accentuated by the look of smooth rivets across its body. The driver's display is a testament to what the auto industry has learned in the last 50 years with user interfaces but the PX takes it one step further with integrated LCD screens without making the console look too techie. What a gorgeous vehicle!

Primitive Pixels

Primative Pixels

Random Screen is a dynamic display that simulates pixel blocks. The difference here is that there's no LCD or even electricity. This is all created thermodynamically with tea lights and beer cans.

Each of the 12 X 12 cm pixels are built as separate modules. A tea light candle controls each pixel. The rising heat turns a modified beer can cut to trap the hot air. Only one side of the can is cut out so it simulates the pixel turning off and on. The more heat, the faster the beer can turns.

iPod "hearts" Yahoo Maps. . . sort of

Ipodmaps

It would seem the rest of world is ready for the iPod to do more than it currently does. With each revision, it always seems to be one step away from being the total "it" device everyone so craves. In reality, the iPod goes thru more revisions and updates than any other electronic gadget I know of; even cellular phones can't compete with the iPod in that respect.

So innovative people have been picking up the slack, slapping on things they wished they iPod would do. It's interesting because one wonders if that is Apple's intention. One way to keep the public interested is by leaving your platform open; just enough so ingenious people can hack it to do what they want.

Case in point, ipodiway. The website offers Yahoo Local Maps integration into your photo enabled iPod. You simply enter your starting and destination points the same way you would on Yahoo Maps, but you end up with a zip file that you sync onto your iPod photo library. Now you have your step-by-step directions and its all free.

I've tried it, it works, its good. A bit round-a-bout way of doing things but like I said, it's sort of a hack and until the iPod gets some sort of GPS mapping software, this is as close as your gonna get. ENJOY!

Nature Already Evolved Beauty

Cjb 03

Sure, your princess cut diamond ring is gorgeous. Yes the clarity is amazing, the stone is flawless and the cut - executed with the utmost precision. That's one definition of beauty in jewelry; so precise and perfect just the way nature intended, but only achievable thru the means of modern jewelry making.

Cjb 06-1

If you asked jewelry designer Christine J. Brandt to define it, she'd probably have a totally opposite one. Christine believes in preserving what nature created because that's how it was intended. Her job as a jewelry designer and artist is to fashion it together. Her pieces are finished as natural as possible. The semiprecious stones and minerals found in her designs are all completely unique formations in their own matrix. They are not cut, polished or dyed. The settings are made of rich wood - never stained or varnished, but burnished and hand-rubbed with several coats of oil to bring out the grain and colors.

I first came across her work in a magazine ad. I was entranced by the organic form of the ring seemingly weighing down the woman's hand gracefully. It looked so natural that it seemed alien.

SAMOROST

Samorost 01

An amazing first and sequel to a series of flash games designed by Amanita Design in the Czech Republic. The art style is unlike anything I have ever seen in a game. Considering they are flash based, they are vibrant, saturated, and very responsive. In face, SAMOROST 2 the sequel, is so well made - they even sell it as a standalone game.

Samorost 02

The games play out like something from the MYST series, logic puzzles and common sense will help you navigate from level to level. The ambient sounds and attention to details only add to the experience, not to mention you'll quickly grow fond of your little pilot guy - the protagonist and hero. Check it out.
