Watch out Gundam! Residents of Kobe took one look at Odaiba's life-size Gundam statue and thought they could do better. The muse to their project is a Tetsujin-28 Gigantor. It'll stand just as tall at 59 ft but weighs in at a hefty 50 tons. OH SNAP! Those is some fightin' words!

P.S. When can I move to Japan? Better yet when is America going to build some giant statue in honor our popular culture - hmm, I vote for a massive and I do mean MASSIVE real-life enactment of Springfield, working nuclear reactor and all. I call dibs on the Simpson's house. Damn the recession. Let's do it!

One of the first things I asked for after joining the company I now work for was proper seating. We ended up dropping $10,000 on Humanscale chairs for the entire office. Tho a massive investment, we saved tons of money in what could have been an endless bill for worker's comp.

Technology has changed how and where we work. Now we work anywhere and everywhere. No matter where we work we want a comfortable chair. Introducing Setu. Its innovative kinematic spine bends and flexes to your every move. There's nothing to tilt, nothing to tweak. Setu's finely tuned elastomeric fabric provides superior suspension and conforms to your contours.

You can order yours from Herman Miller later this year. More pics after the jump.

Humanscale's first LED task lighting solution is set to make its debut at NeoCon 2009, June 15 - 17. The new Element™ light by Mark McKenna, Design Director of the Humanscale Design Studio, offers groundbreaking advancements in LED technology, and is the first of its kind to meet all of the Department of Energy's criteria for an LED task light.

All current-generation LED task lights use a series of LEDs in a cluster or bar to generate illumination. This solution's biggest drawback is the series of shadows it creates across the work surface, causing vision issues. In addition, current-generation LED lights provide inadequate illumination, small or oddly shaped illumination footprints, and poor, bluish-colored light quality. The Element light eliminates each of these shortcomings with a single low-watt Multi-Chip LED that does not cast multiple shadows, meets the Illuminating Engineering Society and DOE's guidelines for comfortable ergonomic reading, and offers a large footprint of comfortable neutral white 3500K light.

Element also offers exceptional sustainability. It's the only LED task light that consumes less than seven watts while also providing ergonomic lighting levels--the equivalent of a 70-watt bulb. Plus, it's constructed primarily of eco-friendly aluminum and contains 40% recycled content. Additionally, Element is 99% recyclable, ships in 70% recycled packaging, and can be integral to the achievement of a number of valuable LEED credits. Lastly, the light is slated to earn the Energy Star label.

Element's unique aesthetic is born from its heat-shedding design. A series of metal fins keep the unit cool to extend the life of the LED--rated at 60,000 hours--and keep lighting performance at optimum levels. Easy replacement of the Multi-Chip LED also ensures a long usable life for Element, unlike most LED task lights, which often cannot be repaired and must be replaced in their entirety when the LEDs fail.

I am loving Jun Takahashi's second menswear collection. Undercover is a perfect mix of futurism, sportswear, and unattached historic influences. I love the mix of wools, knits, and techno fabrics. I want a pair of those metallic leggings in every color. The more traditional pieces like a man's blazer borderline sharp Calvin Klein-like tailoring with the relaxed comforts found in Bottega Veneta jackets.

Color me shocked when most of the colors from Burberry were dark, and for the Spring/Summer show no less! The focus seems to be on outerwear with techno fabrics and finishes. There's a slight homage to Helmut Lang with all the strap work - but in a less severe fashion - certainly more wearable for mainstream men. I particularly like the washed out pastel colors.

Florentijn Hofman's solo show at Galerie West in Hauge Netherlands is a show after my heart. I adore plushie animals and I adore them even more when they're oversized, brimming with cotton and polyester filling.

The exhibit called "Dushi" features unnaturally large stuffed animals placed in various rooms of a house. The exhibit is supposed to highlight how these toys loose their childlike innocence once they become larger than life.

Umm, Mr. Hofman, I would revert to an a giggling drooling baby if I were placed in a room with these fun animals. Hell I may never leave! Who needs the real world anyways? All I ever seem to do is work.

The FEED Bears from the FEED Project are charitable teddys that help feed starving children in East Africa. The FEED Bears, made from organic cotton and natural burlap, come in two sizes, the 8" and 16". The 8" FEED Bear (named 'Nut') is able to feed three kids, while the 16" (named 'Plumpy') feeds five.

The children receive Plumpy'nut, which is a paste made from peanuts, milk, powder, sugar, vegetable oil and a fortified vitamin mineral mixture, to help ensure proper nourishment.

I'm loving the Copenhagen based label Moonspoon Saloon. The ongoing collab between costume designer Sara Sachs, painter Tal R, and photographer Noam Griegst is meant to be temporary. They'll completely shut down operations once they sell 99 styles.

I love how there isn't really any cultural or period reference. The silhouette isn't outrageous but the exaggerated proportions and texture/color combinations make it out of this world.
